Ma Z...this is really coming along Great! It looks like you and I have got the Merc side of two Racing fields covered. Hey there Fletch....I think you need to break your Merc build back out.... After the Shadow Box build...of course... ;D

Thanks for the comments and input, they are always welcome. I can't believe it's been a week since I updated. Just doesn't seem like I got that much done. I finally decided on a fuel system that I would use on the engine. I will add NOS and all the plumbing for the system. When the spray hits you have to be able to fatten the fuel or the engine will lean out and "Pop Through The Top". So I made up a set of fuel injectors for the gas system and for the direct port NOS injection. They are made from craft wire crimps and 22 guage craft wire. The Red ones are gas and the Blue are NOS. I also need some type of fuel block to route the gas to the carbs and injectors. So this is what I came up with. This will all make sense later. I hope.LOL Here is the intake all plumbed. The fuel lines for the injector rails will come off under the bottom fittings. So there will be 3 lines on each side. The hole in the center will be for the main fuel line coming from the fuel pump. Here are all 16 injectors installed into the intake runners. The Red Gas lines will come forward and the Blue NOS lines will come toward the rear of the engine. I will make some type of block there for them then run a line to the NOS regulator. Across the front of the engine ,between the cylinder heads is a water balance tube of some type. The upper radiator hose comes off the passenger side head. I made up a balance tube. Well 3 really but this is the one I picked. When all this is put together it looks like this. Here is a view from the rear of the engine. It will give you a better idea of how the fuel rails will lay on the injectors. Also started on the spark plug wires. I know nobody makes Orange spark plug wires. The Orange wires and Red boots are for contrast only. The wire dividers will be anodized blue. Well that's it for this week. Next week I hope to have a finished engine and be well on the way to a finished chassis. Thanks for looking in. All comments and questions are welcome. After I had all this planned and done. I was looking at it and it dawned on me that I could have used the carbs for throttle bodies and just plumbed the injectors. There's that hind sight again. I think it looks good like this and will not change it. Just wanted to share the moment. See you next week.

Well it's been a week and it's time to check in. Thanks for the comments. It doesn't seem like I got much done this week. Still working on the engine. Here's what I got. Here is the finished fuel and NOS injection systems.The aluminum fitting at the back of the block is where the NOS line will hookup. Then added the spark plug wires. So now I wanted to plumb the dry sump system. Some on the lines run under the intake plenum and into the back of the block. The braided line that comes with the Ross Gibson engine is .035 in diameter and very stiff. It was so stiff that it cracked and broke the resin block in a couple places when I was cutting and fitting it. The next smaller size I had was .019" it just looked to small. So Monday was spent looking around town for some .025" braided line. None to be had in Aberdeen. So I ordered some from Shipwreck Beads. It got here Thursday afternoon and I moved on. When the dust settled it looked like this. So that's where I am at. This next week I hope to get the engine done finished and the body in color. We will see how it goes. See you in a week or so. Thanks for looking in and taking the time to comment. I wanted to have the engine done and the body in color. One out of two ain't bad. I got the engine done. I had to scratch up a coil and distributor cover for the MSD setup. I spent most of the week trying to write MSD on the cover and coil. I just can't write that small and have it look good. I tried in vain to find a decal that small. Finally I decided to run with the plain red. Here is a picture of the front of the engine. all done but the radiator hoses. That comes much later. This is a picture of the engine beside the reference picture I downloaded. When the engine was test fitted into the frame the red flags went up. The dry sump hoses are to low. I tried to get them loose from the oil pan to shorten them up but gave that up. I didn't want to break the brittle resin oil pan and cause more damage. I decided to use some .007 craft wire and tie the hose up to the frame once the engine is finally installed. Next time I will know better. I wanted some way to set the window glass into the hole, like a street car, instead of onto the opening like a race car. .020" craft wire scales out to .500" or half an inch. I will make frames for all the windows. Then using play dough to make a pattern I will cut clear glass for it. Here is a picture of what I doing. It's worth a thousand words. So that's all that happened here. Now that I am at this point I see where I have a lot of work to do before this body gets paint. I'll see everyone in about a week. Thanks for looking in. How small of an MSD decal do you need? I may have one you could have in my decal book. Let me know.

Thanks Dave. The round distributor cover is a little less thanb 3/16 of an inch. It would have to go onto that. You can see what I was working with in the third picture up from the borttom. The one with the scale engine sitting beside the picture of the real engine.

After going through my decals, I could only find some that are about 1/4 inch long, and red letters, thats the smallest i have, Your welcome to them if you think they might work.

Thanks to those that are looking in for doing so. I had goals for what would happen in the next week. That was two weeks ago and none of it's done. Man I had the horse way before the cart. My idea is to have the body removable on this model. To do that I thought I would have the front rest on the dashboard. Like a split firewall so to speak. The first thing I did was put the .020" craft wire into the windows. This will give a frame for the glass to fasten to. Then I added this piece of styrene. I figured I could trim the bottom until the body sat on the chassis for the ride height I want. That's when the light came on. I can't set the ride height of the body until I have set the ride height of the chassis. So I changed horses in mid stream. The first thing I did was drop the frame and break it into 4 pieces. It broke where I had extended it. I knew I should have pinned it. So it went into the CSC to strip it and then I fixed it by drilling and pinning the halves together. After that was done I wanted to add the brake lines and flex hoses. I made fittings from .030" hex styrene. I used .012" craft wire for the lines. The flex hoses are .015 braided craft wire. The rear end had brake rotors but no calipers so I scratched up a couple. The fittings. front half. back half. rear end. The back half epoxied to the front half. All bake line done. Next came the three speed Lenco and scatter shield. Then that 815 inch Ford racing engine. Then the floorboards. That brings everyone up to date. Next thing is to do the front end. I will fit the chassis bars I remove earlier, mount the struts, steering etc. Then we will have a roller anyway. Thanks for stopping by. All comments and questions are welcome.

I want to start by saying thanks for looking in. This last week has been to smooth. No set backs at all. I got the front half all done. It is now a roller. Well it won't roll but it sits on it's own. I had to put the front bars back that I cut out way back when. Also fit the front down bars, steering rack, struts, radiator & hoses, etc. When I was all done it looked like this. And here it is standing on it's own. Now I could see how the body fits the chassis and what I can do to set the ride height. With the body on it looks like this. I really like this picture of the car. It shows the amount of engine set back as well as ride height. With the hood on it looks like this. It still sits a little high in the front. My plan is to use the firewall to rest on the dashboard. This will support the front. I will trim up some more at the center (were the body is resting on the carbs) and then build a box that will come back and rest on the top of the dash. The back is about right. I am not sure if it needs to be tweaked or not. Well that's about it for this week. Thanks for looking in all comments and questions are welcome.
