A few nights ago I was browsing through Jeff Allison's drawings on Facebook. In his 'Almost Cool' album was this drawing ot a seriously chopped '29 Coupe: I sent Jeff a message that I had just found the inspiration for the last wrapped Monogram '30 Model A Coupe. Of course there are no '29 Model A Coupes available in 1/24-1/25th scale. So the first thing that had to happen was to convert the '30 Coupe to a '29. The quickest way to accomplish that conversion it to remove the '30 Cowl and replace it with the Cowl of a '29. The parts box offered up a Monogram '29 Roadster Pickup body for the conversion. Once the cowl swap was completed it was time to lower the roof, 1/8" tape was used to determine the depth of the chop, and the razor saw went to work. Once the chop was completed and filler added to the body, I went and looked at the drawing. That's when I realized the top wasn't chopped enough, so the glue joints were popped and an additional .060" was removed from the pillars. Hosted on FotkiThe top now has a slight angle to the chop, but it will work. Time to let the filler cure. Then on to sanding and building the frame. Stay tuned.

Nice coupe, I saw several of his drawings at the Billetproof. There's some nice cars to be built from them.

Man Dave...this is going to look really cool when you get it completed. As ALWAYS...your craftsmanship is of a well rounded Journeyman. Looking at your work always gets the creative juices flowing...no matter what your subject matter is. Good stuff my friend...
