A couple a months ago I picked up this body from Mr Beach, we're not sure who the resin caster was but it was pretty warped and required a fair amount of hot water/cold water to get it corrected. The body is designed for the AMT fenders and chassis, of course there is little chance of it being built that way. What with the Revell '32 frame and fenders being so readily available. Today was one of those 'get something painted' days. I knew I wanted it to be some shade of orange, the color I settled on was HoK Outrageous Orange. This is color is from their Hobby Shop lineup. The downside of that is the Hobby Shop series is enamel. The paint even though it was a fresh unopened bottle was as thick as cold maple syrup. Of course I didn't have any of their Hobby Shop series thinner, so I used hardware store lacquer thinned. I figured the experiment would instantly go sideways, however it mixed perfectly fine and stayed that way. The only thing that I had to do any different from normal was to crank up the regulator to 30psi to shoot the color. Hosted on FotkiThe build will take on a more modern flavor then I normally build, I'd love to find a set of modern Dayton wires like those that have been showing up on 1:1 builds of late. Stay tuned.

Now this is going to be a cool project. That body looks good Dave! Looking at it from the side shots you posted...the work you did to it payed off. Are you going with the a black or Tan for the top up...or something different? Just curious as to what kind of engine you're going with on this one?

Gary, the game plan is to use something along the lines of Tamiya Linen for the top. It has the look of unbleached canvas, hopefully it will have the look that I have in mind. The thought process for the engine is to use the EFI 5.0 that was in the Speedwagon version of the Revell '32. I think the interior pieces from the Speedwagon should fit the build, if not, it ain't no thing to fabricate the side panels. I'm thinking about using the Pegasus DZ Wires for the build, they make them in 19" and 23" sizes. #1296 - 19" #2298 - 23" Hosted on FotkiI'm hoping the differences in the center covers between the 2 are just because of the way they were photographed.

I really like the looks of the wire wheels. Do you have them already or are those pics from a site? I wouldn't mind having a set or two of them. My LHS carries a few pegasus' wheels...but not the wires. I'll try asking them to order some for me... might get lucky...

Hobbytown here carries most of the Pegasus line, I have yet to pick them up, I figure when I go to get them if they don't have them in stock, I'll either have them order them or I'll place and order with Pegasus.

Well, I asked Hobbytown to order the DZ wires for me , a month later still no tires/wheels, so last Weekend I ordered them directly from Pegasus, not my preference but what else do you do if a LHS won't order them for you. Today when we got home the DZs were waiting on the porch, so a quick mock-up to see how that look under the fenders. Hosted on FotkiAfter looking at how the body/fender assembly sits on the Wires, I'm going to search the stash and see if I don't have enough parts and pieces to assemble an AMT Phantom Vicki frame for the B400. The IFS on the AMT unit will allow the DZs to sit a little more inboard. The trick if there is one is to extend the rear frame rails as the Phantom Vicki doesn't have the fuel tank sticking out the rear. The Revell fenders fit the AMT frame with minor modifications. The biggest thing I see with this project will be fabricating the interior as the resin version that came with the body is totally worthless when it comes to mounting the body on anything other then an AMT fender unit. Stay tuned

If we come to Puyallup, I will certainly bring it along. I'm still battling the after effects of Pneumonia, we'll have to see how the work week goes. I hope to be there but, we will have to wait and see. If not rest assured it and a couple other completed builds will be at End of the World.

Well...I hope you're feeling better my Friend. That offer still stands for you and Teri also. I would like to see you guys make it as I won't be at the end of the world show. Susan and myself are going to Florida for a wedding. She's a Brides Maid and I'm going to Shoot pics and Play at the reception. Two of the players(husband and wife) in my old Band "SUEDE" moved down to the Tampa Bay area a yr or so ago. Going to get them and a guitar player and do the Reception. It's going to be fun. But....if I don't get to see these builds at these two shows....there's always the OSSM thing....

Nice build Fletch. I will be at the Goodguys in Puyallup and would like to go the End of the World. I just need more info about that one. Like what day and where at. I know where the Rod Run is I have been there a couple times, but never knew there was a Model Show until this year.

Nice build Fletch. I will be at the Goodguys in Puyallup and would like to go the End of the World. I just need more info about that one. Like what day and where at. I know where the Rod Run is I have been there a couple times, but never knew there was a Model Show until this year. Buck, this will be kinda a renewal of the Model Car Contest. In the late '90s it ran for about 3 years, personalities became an issue and the contest went by the wayside. I pushed a couple of people I know with the Beach Barons to get it back. That effort has us back this year for the 1st time in at least 10 years. The contest will be under cover in the area of the Beach Baron's Club House. We won't be in the club house itself but under awnings like we do at Billetproof. The contest will be Saturday September 10th. We will be taking entries from the time the gates open at 9am until at least 1pm perhaps later. The plan is to give us from aprox 2pm until 3:30 for judging and awards between 3:30 and 4pm. There will be no charge for the model car contest, but you'll have to pay the normal admission fee to get into the cruise. I believe the entry fee is $10 but I'm not 100% sure as I can't locate it on the Beach Barons site or any of the flier info. The Beach Barons' Field and Club House is on Sandridge Rd, In Ocean Park, here's the full address info: Wilson Field 25815 Sandridge Rd. Ocean Park WA

Thanks for the address and the infop, Fletch. Sorry didn't mean to clog up your build with this. I know there is a contest and event thread.
