At a modeling site long, long ago a friend of mine sent me this kit. This was in 2004 and we had both just gone from being moderators to administrators at the now gone Sharks Realm Modeling site. Skid Solo thought that I should expand my horizons or enlarge the cave so to speak. I in turn sent him a couple kits of Drag Race cars. So both of us could grow a little at the same time. Well one thing led to another and I never did get around to this set. Finally I had danced around it long enough so out it came. I am not totally new to these cars. I was a service writer at a dealership that carried British Leyland, Fiat, Ferrari, BMW, International Harvester and Kubota Tractors.
Anyway on to the builds. I found them both fun and did learn something. "Silberpfeil" means Silver Arrow. A nickname given the Mercedes race cars of the 1930's. The F1 McLaren Mercedes MP4/12 was really simple to build and was mostly an exercise in decal application. Paint the main body silver the side pods black and start putting decals on. 103 decals on a 6 inch model. I was putting decals on top of decals but it turned out OK.
Then came the 300 SLR. I didn't realize what a famous car this was or the history of it. I am glad I built this car. Mainly for what I learned doing the research on it. Just plain awesome. in 1955 this car would run 180MPH with inboard drum brakes. It must have been a thrill to drive it. One of those cars that gets you all big eyed and smiley. The model it's self is just sweet to look at. I added spark plug wires (2 per cylinder) and then made up the fuel lines from the injection pump to the injectors. It was fuel injected put with a mechanical pump, no electronics on this baby. The rest of it is box stock.
If you want to see more you can look here for the McLaren.

I am glad I built them, it was a learning experience. I am glad they are done so now I can go back to that Orange Crate that is taking me to the mat.
Thanks for looking in all questions and comments are welcome.
