Well the '40 Ford CBP is over so time to start a new CBP. Mike (carnut) and I discussed it at last weeks SABA meeting and we came up with the Revell '32 Five Window Coupe. As per normal build it any way you choose, however, we're going to shorten up the build time to 6 months instead of 1 year.
So, dig out those '32 5 window coupes and get building, the CBP runs from July 1 through January 31, 2011.
Happy Building!!!!

I have spent the past month or so looking for a '32 5 Window Coupe that I truly wanted to build. I came across this one the other night, hopefully the artist won't get to pissy over his artwork being an inspiration for this project. Hosted on FotkiThe thing that intrigues me about the drawing is the use of newer Dayton style wire wheels on Deuce Coupe that has a very traditional look to it. Looks like it's time to buy a couple of pairs of Pegasus Dayton wires and narrow up a set for the front and mount them bigs and little style.

So far the roof has been chopped, the initial filler work has been done but is still in need of the finish fill and sanding. Also, the drip rail needs to be reinstalled. The work on the chassis has been completed, the frame rails have been bobbed on both ends with the front rails pinched to the correct width. The filler piece needs to be cut and fit to the rear of the frame. During final assembly a spreader bar will be added to the rear of the frame. One of the things that drew me to this illustration is the headers extending through the hood sides. With that in mind, the choices of engine were a Ford or a Chrysler product. I wanted a engine with a tri-carb manifold for the build. Finding a Ford product with a tri-carb manifold is a lot more difficult then I had anticipated, until I opened the AMT '62 T-Bird, the choice was then pretty obvious. Hosted on FotkiI don't know of a source for the Dayton wires, the next choice is the Kelsey-Hayes type wires from the Monogram '30 Woody, they are now in paint, I'll get some photos posted of them. That's it for now, more to come soon.

another very busy work week, little time for building. Got the wire wheels painted and clear coated. Searched through my stash of beauty rings and not a single one of them would fit the rims. Hosted on FotkiI need to do some clean-up on the outside of the rims, then give them BMF beauty rings. That's it for now, will get some more of the body work done in the next day or so. Stay tuned.

It's good to see you're back at the table Dave. This is going to be another one of your cool builds. I like the wheels on this puppy, they really look good. they'll look twicw as good when you get the BMF ring on them. The chop you did sure makes the car look cool.

Not sure if I'm going to attempt the do the trim rings with BMF, instead I'm going to go to Micheal's and see what they have in the way of Silver wire. What I'm thinking is make the rings from the wire then epoxy them in place. I know they have silver wire in several gauges so it will be a question of finding the proper size.
The body will be in primer before the weekend, the goal is to get this completed for the Portland Classic March 18-20.
