As many of you know I am a fan of the Ford Model 'A'. Henry Ford and Company developed a cheap to build and easy to maintain "working mans" car. For decades the '32 Fords have been the most popular models for rodders. However, in the past few years the Model 'A' has made a come back. In the past few years the 'Car Culture' has brought the '28-'31 Fords back into vogue.
The shelves of our local grocery store and news stand are full of 'Car Culture' magazines, one of those that I pickup every time there is a new issue is Rebel Rodz. The latest issue has a '31 Coupe that caught my eye, not so much by it's stance but more because of the details of the build that I thought would translate well in 1/24th scale. Of course the fun part of Rebel Rodz website is all you get is a "Preview" of the issue, so any photos of the 1:1 have to come from the printed copy of the magazine and not in electronic form. The 1:1 photos used here are scanned from the issue, so my apologies if the quality is not up to the usual of a phot from a website.
Here is the inspiration for the build, Mike Swann's Hot Rod Development '31 Ford Coupe.
When the new issue of the Monogram '30 Ford Coupe came out I ended up with 1/2 a dozen of them. Someplace along the way I chopped this one, don't remember when or why, but the chop is very close to that of the 1:1 coupe.
The frame for the build was one of the things that I really liked about the 1:1. The frame will be scratch built using Evergreen .080X.125 stock with is aprox 2X3 in scale.

The build will use as many parts as possible from the '30 Ford Coupe kit as possible, the wire wheels will be used but with tires from either the '41 Lincoln or Cord.
Stay Tuned, more to come soon.
