The cedar in the bed looks fantastic, finish it up with the rails covered in BMF and it will be cooler then cool. I grant you that it's an art form painting the plastic bed to look like wood, but why would you want to when you can use the real thing.
Keep it coming it's looking fantastic.

Some more on my truck, got the tailgate done. The inside of the Bowtie will also be done in the cedar and fit without gaps. Also had to do something custom to the front end. I cut one bar off the grill made a lower roll pan, made a filler piece between the hood and top of the grill and started to mold in a set of dual headlights. I have a couple more pieces of plastic to add and some bondo and get her all in shape.

Here are a couple more new pics, the front just needs a little more shaping, but the rest of the cab looks good to go. Sorry for the dark pics, like Fletch's discovery with Tamiya matte black, it seems to wash out detail. Dave

Getting a little farther with my Chevy. The straught 6 is almost done, used a few parts from the Galaxy 48 Chevy speed and chrome parts on it and soldier headers. got the chrome strips on the bed wood done and triing to get a nice coat of black paint on it but on of my cut lines keeps showing up, can't get it all the way smooth. here are some pics.....

It's coming together nicely Dave, I can understand you frustration with the cut lines showing back up again. The only way I know to get rid of them completely is to minimize the amount of filler. Especially if you're using a spot type putty. The stuff will shrink every time you hit it with paint.
The I use one of 2 things for my final fill work and to get away from spot putties. Those are the liquid plastic that is generated from saving my Evergreen scraps and putting them into a bottle of Tamiya Extra Thin Cement. When applied to the model it melts into the kit plastic and becomes part of the surrounding plastic, you sand and prep it like you would any other plastic. The other thing I use is the filler that is used on acrylic fingernails. It's a 2 part system which uses a solvent/cement and acrylic dust if you will. There is a great tutorial over on the MCM forum on how to use the stuff. The stuff when it dries is good and hard, it's a bit rougher to sand but once it's cured, it doesn't go anywhere. Paint and surface preps have no effect on it at all.
Hope to see you Saturday, BTW check you email and let me know what you think.

A little more progress this weekend, Finally Paint!!!!!! This has been the third or forth paint job on this truck, either the body work was just not right or something else i did. The final color is Lapids Blue by HOK, originally was going to be Galaxy Grey by HOK but ran out of that color. Now do I dare painting some graphics on it? enjoy the pics.....

I think the color looks great. I am not sure it really needs a graphic.
