New project on my table. This time one of my favorite model kit, a Italeri Fire Jeep in 1/24. I think also this one is one of the best in this scale, and also if it is old the quality is pretty good. I will make a Jeep CJ (Civilian Jeep) 2A, that is the frist civilian Jeep. For make it, I need to change sometings on the frame/chassis. Will see... The only two problems are the rims and that the chassis is not a Willys/Jeep one but a Ford. The rims have a lot of rivets all around, that in the real one don't exist. About the chassis, the real Ford and Willys had a lot of part make similar, usually the Ford have all the parts marked with a "F" for Ford and a round bars in the front of the Willys Chassis that Ford have it square. Those are the same problem that I saw in the 1/35 Willys MB made by Italeri. This is the kit. I start to work on the chassis and making some little modifications, like the springs mounts. This is what I have now.

FaBrizio, I have not doubt that what ever parts in the kit that are not 100% accurate that you will change to make them right.
By the time the build is completed you'll have another masterpiece.

Sorry I forgot to update this Jeep, because I start another one... You know sometime you need to do something else for find the motivation... So I start another Jeep, that I will post soon about it. About the CJ-2A, I'm still working on it... When you try to make it "right" sometime happen what you don't want... But God gave to me a lot of patience, and I rebuilt all the bed and side... I painted the wheels in what the Jeep called at the end of the 40's Michigan Yellow. Before I removed all the bolt and in rear wheels scratch build the center part. A the end I had those wheels (front, rear)... I love them! The red one are before. Paint chassis and engine in flat black, made some work-details on the engine. And finally put the tires on it. The red stuff its an accessory very common at that time (40-50's) on the CJ-2A. It is a PTO out put. This is the PTO out put after finish it and before paint. Look not but its made by 27 parts! This is what I have for now...

I don't know which of us is crazier you or me. We both seem to have this compulsion to rebuild things to make them as prototypical as possible.
The CJ is looking great. The workmanship is impressive as always. I have the military version of that kit, I ran across it this morning while I was looking for a tri-power manifold. I don't think it has been started, you're welcome to it, I'll bring it to the next meeting. I know if it's in your capable it will have a chance of getting built. Otherwise it's just taking up space on my shelf.

I think we are both at the same level... 100% pure crazy. ;D ;D ;D Sometime I think why I didn't chose a quiet hobby, like play tennis??? Who knows... Only He knows! The important is having fun, and when the model it is finished, the joy, to see it done will cancel all the hours we had spend on it. I can't say no to a Jeep!!! I will be glad to build it! Thank you very much! Back on the kit, the Willys has a gas cap under the seat, and the CJ2A has it on the side behind the "door". So It is only a hole to do, looks easy... A the end I broke more then what I wanted... Now I'm trying to repair it... I also rebuilt the radiator. The Willys has bigger radiator and smaller front light, the CJ2A, has smaller radiator and big head lights. I had one radiator from a MPC kit, but need some work, need all the right side... After remove the left side I rebuilt it, and now it is ready to be painted. I made some extra accessories but need to download the pics...

Friday I made on it a lot of work! Now it need only license plate!!! A the end I scratch-build some extra accessories, like K&K mower bar, and a Monroe lift on the back, a HI-HO oil pump, and a PTO in the back. Over than 500 piece only in accessories... But was SuperFun build it... The red stuff is what I was talking before. The red one in the engine is a HI-HO oil Pump, that through belt make it work and pump the oil on the Monroe lift (not yet on the Jeep) in the back of the Jeep. After the engine there is a PTO, and part of the K&K mower bar. Here the K&K mower bar, ready for primer and paint. Here the beginning of the Monroe lift, before it was a cocktail "spoon"... And this is the PTO, Power Take Off, before color... After cut the windshield and scratch-build all the stuff for make it open, new windows, thinner and clear than the original. Rebuild the dashboard... And other more... I'll open a post with the finish Jeep.
