Guys this is a build I started on another forum. I have since left that forum do to the admin being not the person he professed to be. Prior to leaving I removed all my post from his forum as there was not a chance I was going to let him have any of the credit for bringing the build to the public. Goes to prove, not everyone on the forums are your friends or even close to it.
The reissue of the Monogram '30 Model A Coupe has lead to a lot of different builds occurring on the forums internet wide. Not that that this one is a lot different but, few of these other Model A builds have been converted to a '29 and even fewer have been built full-fendered.
So, here is where the build is as of this evening.
Of course the top has been chopped, like there's a surprise. The cowl from a Monogram '29 Roadster Pickup has replaced the '30 cowl. The '29 RPU fenders and frame will be used for the build, supplemented with parts from a Revell '32 Ford kit.
One of the cool things about Revell's new '32 Ford 5 Window Coupe is the different trunk lid available. With a bit of adjustment the louvered version fits the '30 Model A Rumble Seat opening nicely.
On the underside of the louvered trunk lid are 4 nubs, 1 located on each corner. The piece is to long from front to back by depth of these nubs. Careful sanding and the piece drops right in. You'll also need to add .040 to each side of the piece in order for it to be wide enough.
Here is the initial mock-up of the build, I don't know if it will remain on these wheels or perhaps on a set of the wires from the Revell Sedan. I have also kicked around the idea of using a set of the chrome reverse from the Revell '49 Merc.
My thought process is to make this my Theme build for the 2010 NNL. I plan to use the Hemi from the new Revell '32 Ford 5 Window Coupe. Replicas and Miniatures Company of Maryland (RMoM) has just released a series of different manifolds for the kit Hemi.
As well as 2 new sets of heads and Valve Covers.
Hosted on Fotki
What do you think? I'm considering the pair of Valve Covers in the last photo as they are "Chrysler Firepower" and the 6 log manifold.
As for color, I seriously considering Black highly polished Fenders and frame with a Deep Dark Plum body.
Stay tuned, more to come soon.
