Today at the SABA-LAMA Challenge Mike (carnut) and I were talking about the next SABA Club/Forum Community Build. Mike suggested building '40 Fords anyway you choose using any of the '40 kits ever produced.
What that would mean is you could use a Monogram '40 Pickup, any of the AMT '40 Fords, Coupe, Sedan, Sedan Delivery. You could use any of the Revell '40 Coupe or Convertible or any of the many after market '40 Resin bodies.
The building style would be what ever you choose it to be. If you choose ato build it as a custom, stock (not sure that is possible), Hot Rod, Street Rod, Rat Rod..... well you get the picture. I'm thinking a '40 Ford Coupe Pro-Mod would be pretty cool.
The build would start at midnight next Sunday which is the monthly meeting and continue for the next year. The build would conclude on June 13, 2010. All the completed build would to have photos submitted by midnight on the 13th. A poll will be posted on Monday June 15th running for the rest of the month. The winner will be determined by popular vote and be declared on Wednesday July 1st. The SABA Website and Forum will provide an award for the winning build of the Community Build.
So, round up your parts, pieces and kits for the '40 Ford CBP starting Sunday June 14th. I will post the outline of the CBP on the Community Build topic in the next couple of days.

Well I suppose that since I instigated all this then I am for sure in this. I got 4 planned (maybe 5). but I got a year so hear goes.
A stock 1940 Ford, mmm. Interesting. How about a moonshine hauler.

I have two 40 Fords lurking on the shelf. With a year to complete this I might just have a chance to squeeze this one in.

Just about the time you have figured out what you're going to build. Someone on another forum goes to a car show and post photos of what they saw. So, it's back to the garage to dig out a 39/40 sedan to hopefully end up looking something like this. Hosted on Fotki
