Your start can be a new kit or a rework of a previous build.

Well let's get this thing kicked off. Surprisingly enough I found a few Foreign models out in the garage. So, here are the two that I managed to narrow it down to. The AMT/Ertl Prestige Series Mercedes-Benz 1955 300SL Gullwing: Or, The New Revell Performance Series Audi R8 Come on guys let's see what you have planed for the CBP

I know this one is over but I thought I should at least show how far I got on mine. Revell 612 Scaglietti Non factory color, Testors lacquer metallic red. Really nice paint. I used their two part with the clear and it was painted and ready to move on in less than a day. Unfortunately other projects have to take priority and this one went back in the box until a later date.

Seems we both got about to the same point in the build. I would have been a whole lot better off if I'd have gone with the Audi R8 then the Gull Wing. Now I understand why you don't see many of them at show and in the model press. The AMT Gull WIng is without a doubt the worst Kit I have ever attempted to build. A major rework of the hinge system is still in the works so the doors can even have a chance of opening.
Hopefully, we'll all have better luck with the '40 Ford.

hey. did you continue the Gullwing? I love that car, also have the kit and i am wondering if you managed finishing it I haven't touched the GL in months, the AMT kit has got to be one of the worst kits I have ever attempted to build. If you hope to have the Gull-Wing doors open you will need to replaced the entire hinge system as there is little chance of them either opening correctly or sitting properly once closed. It's a project I'll get back to one of these days, I haven't totally given up on it, it just not a priority.
