I sure like the looks of this car. The Straight on shot of it really looks cool. I don't know about the color choice for the build. It really don't hit me as a "HOT ROD" color...ya know what I mean?But....then again....

Here, here on the color. I was so glad when the "pastel" color thing died out. I much prefer kandy, pearl and metallic colors. Just my 2 cents, worth 1 cent anywhere.

Got the chop completed a couple week ago, once the gap was filled a layer of liquid styrene was added to the roof and allowed to cure. Got back to working on the 3 window today, sanded the roof and and the rest of the joints, an additional layer of filler was needed on the roof. To allow the front end to sit as low as needed the frame rails were notched at the front cross member. Pretty simple task that changes the attitude of how the Coupe will sit. Once the frame rails are notched the springs of the front axle need to be modified as well. To get the right ride height all the springs are removed except for one. The hoodsides of the Coupe are pretty unique with just a single row of louvers vs the normal 3 rows. The hoodsides from the 5 window kit were sourced for the build. When comparing them to those from the 3 Window you quickly note they are aprox .025" shorter. That amount will need to be added to the bottom of the sides then the bead restored. Mocked up the 3 Window for the SABA meeting this past Sunday evening. The ride still needs to be adjusted, the rear bags need to be shortened to get it down where it needs to be. The tires and wheels from the 5 Window were used for the mock-up, for final assembly I have a set of tires and wheels from Modelhaus. I ordered a 2oz bottle of Studebaker Chippewa Green paint for the Coupe from ScaleFinishes.com. The Studebaker Chippewa Green is a little more pea green then the 1:1 coupe but it should work fine. I think i might have gotten a bit closer on the paint if I had ordered Ford Seafoam Green. Scale Finishes is a company that understands customer service. I placed the order mid-afternoon Saturday, about an hour later I received an email with conformation that the order had shipped. The paint arrived on my door step this morning, from placing the order to arrival was less then 70 hours. I will indeed be doing business with Scalefinishes.com again in the near future. Hosted on FotkiThat's it for this update, I need to build motor mounts so the SBC sits between the frame rails properly, then it's on to paint, detail and final assembly.

That color looks pretty darn close to me Dave. That's a JADE GREEN from Krylon? Man...I always thought that JADE GREEN was a dark color....Hmmm..learning everyday. That's a good thing...I sure like the set that you've got on this one to. This is going to look really cool when you get it finished...

Gary, the photos looks a lot more blue then it actually is, the Jade Green is a lot more green then the photos would indicate. The color is off enough that I shot a coat of Sally Hansen's Mint Sorbet nail polish, the color is now a lot closer to the 1:1 then the photos shot yesterday. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to shoot some photos tomorrow evening. It's got some flaws, but don't they all, looking forward to getting this one done.

Made the mistake of shooting the body with Dupli-color Clear Lacquer and it turned yellow as it cured. Should have taken the time to mix up a batch of Urethane Clear, lesson learned the last of the Lacquer goes in the the trash can. So, the coupe is back to bare plastic after a bout with the Dawn Power Dissolver. I'm planning on ordering the correct Seafoam green from Scalefinishes. With their service it should be here Monday or Tuesday. Photos sometime next week.

I've never shot it over Krylon before either. Hearing your results with it....I won't. Thank you for the heads up my friend..... Where do you get the DAWN POWER DISSOLVER? I haven't heard of that stripper before. Does it work as good as the Purple stuff or the Brake fluid?
