So a few of you may know i have a pile of 30-31 Model A sedan parts that make a complete body... Got lots of nice parts and one REALLY rough rear quarter...
So here's the deal: The offer is on the table to trade my stuff for a 28-29 sedan body that's as complete as mine, but actually together with good subrails and all and is not falling apart like an ailing leper.
Obviously i gotta go look at but here is my question to the best automotive designers i have ever met. From a style stand point, favorability stand point and design aspect whats your opinion? Which do you like best? I want to see what you guys think. When i started looking for a body i was after a 28-29, but since i found that 30-31 and i needed parts, that became my focus im almost impartial.
28-29 has the swooping lower cowl pillar and a pretty much flat and square beltline. smaller firewall (so engines can appear to over compensate...) and may infact be a bit narrower...
30-31 has a more detailed beltline with sort of a B shaped double roll. and the cowl sort of flows with the body as it converges to the firewall. seems like there is more sheet metal finish garnish and detail paid to the fit and finish of them too...
Im 6'-5" and with at least a 3" channel and probably a 3 or 4 inch chop space is gonna be tight anyway. With a pretty hard Z'd rear section, will definitely be a 2 seater
I kinda have an idea of which way im thinkin about going... Im not afraid of fab work and patching and what not, thats all part of the deal but if you can start with good stuff instead of crap time and money will be saved in the long run... Mine is sort of like trying to put a scale one together that you stepped on and the other one is kind of like slap suspension on the frame i have and slide the body on and start staring at what could be in real life...
So yeah, thanks for letting me rant a bit, get my thoughts together Let me hear from you!!!
